Programs & Services / Walking the Dinosaur (for children and teens)
"Our children really loved the program. Prior to starting, our kids felt alone and
isolated when it came to the cancer topic. After we started, they felt a normalcy
and related well with the other children. This in itself was invaluable to our journey.
Thank you!"
Children whose loved ones have cancer need support and education, too!
Without attention to their worries, fears, and misconceptions, children are at risk for educational, emotional and behavioral problems.
Fortunately, Cancer Support Community and Cancer Family Care have teamed up to offer Walking the Dinosaur for children ages 5-18 and their parents or guardians. This 4-week program is offered quarterly, with age appropriate groups for children, and a companion group for their adult caregivers. In just 90 minutes a week for 4 weeks, children and their parents learn to communicate and cope more effectively.
If your children, 18 or younger, have a parent or grandparent with cancer, please call Cancer Support Community at (513) 791-4060 to learn more about Walking the Dinosaur.
