Educational Programs

Several times each month, CSC offers free educational workshops that provide people with cancer and their loved ones with tools to manage their treatment and recovery as effectively as possible. Many top oncologists, radiologists and other medical specialists give presentations at CSC. These programs provide an opportunity to ask questions and gain in-depth knowledge about specific cancer-related issues.

In addition to presentations on medical topics, the range of CSC's educational programs also includes healthy cooking and nutrition classes, programs on topics such as insurance, financial planning and career issues, sessions on spirituality and emotional well-being, and a variety of creative expression classes designed to help you cope with the cancer experience.

Frankly Speaking About Cancer

In addition to outstanding local programs, several times a year CSC hosts workshops from the nationally renowned "Frankly Speaking About Cancer" series of educational programs on a variety of specific cancers or cancer-related issues.

Cancer and Spirituality

The Cancer and Spirituality program is designed to help cancer patients and their loved ones explore their spiritual concerns and use their spirituality to aid them in their recovery.

Grief Recovery

Mike Strick, M.A., and Donna Hartmann Grief Recovery Specialists, lead this dynamic 12-week program created to help people move beyond the pain of ANY loss while achieving healing. Developed by the Grief Recovery Institute, the program creates a safe environment to learn how loss affects us, and how to move past the grief and pain through new actions. Loss includes, but is not limited to: divorce, health, independence, major financial changes, and death of a loved one. The Grief Recovery Handbook will be provided to all participants. This program was made possible through the Crossroads Hospice Charitable Foundation.

Resource Library

In addition to educational presentations and workshops, the Cancer Support Community also has a resource library available for participants to use. The library includes books and other materials that may be borrowed, along with a computer with Internet access that may be used for online research.
